A finalist at home
Heritage Saunas has been named a finalist at the 2026 Best Awards, New Zealand's annual design awards run by the Designers Institute of New Zealand. As with our Design of the Year award at the Wonder Global Design Awards this year, the nomination is for the company rather than a single build.
The Best Awards have been running since the 1970s and are open to all. They cover graphic, digital, spatial and industrial design, along with film, animation, social good and Toitanga.
Why a New Zealand award matters to us
A sauna here has to cope with salt wind on the Omaha coast or hard frost in Queenstown. Hunter learned what those conditions do to a building over a career spent building homes, and we work alongside architects, builders and landscape designers on every project. Recognition from New Zealand's own design community carries weight for that reason.
The way we work hasn't changed because of it. Each sauna is still designed after a visit to the site and built in whichever construction suits the setting. The heat comes from HUUM, which Heritage supplies as official New Zealand distributor.
Working with us
Architects and designers specifying a sauna for a client can talk to us about trade terms, and anyone planning one for their own home can start with a short enquiry. Hunter replies to both within one business day.
